We audited 127 resumes last month for Canada, Australia and Germany. 90% of the candidates scored 42-55% on ATS and never reached a human. Check your score in 2 minutes.
90% of Resumes Are Rejected in 6 Seconds. Not Due to Experience. Due to ATS.
If you applied to jobs in different countries with zero replies, your profile was likely filtered by a robot before a human saw it.
The Data:
88% of large companies use ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to auto-filter resumes – Harvard Business School Study.
75% of resumes are never seen by a human due to ATS formatting or keyword mismatch – Jobscan Report.
Recruiters spend 6-7 seconds on a resume ONLY after it clears ATS – Ladders Eye Tracking Study.
Most Indian resumes we audited at The Veritas House score 42-55% on ATS. The threshold to reach a human in Canada or Germany or Australia is 75%+.
Your experience is not the blocker. Your ATS compliance is.
Country Wise Resume Compliance: One Format Does Not Work Everywhere
A resume that works in India will be auto rejected abroad if it does not meet country specific ATS and Visa standards.
1. CANADA
ATS is mandatory. More than 88% of employers use it. If you do not clear ATS, your resume never reaches a human. Never add a photo. If you add a photo, the ATS will auto-reject you under the anti-bias filter of the Canadian Human Rights Act. For length, keep it 2 pages if you have more than 5 years of experience. Keep it 1 page only if you have less than 2 years of experience. IRCC needs 2 pages to map your NOC code properly. To pass ATS, add exact NOC keywords from the Job Description and add numbers to your achievements. You need a 75%+ match to get shortlisted.
2. GERMANY
ATS is mandatory, especially for the Opportunity Card [Chancenkarte]. Never add a photo. It gets auto rejected under the German AGG Law. Keep your resume 2 pages long. German recruiters expect a detailed Dossier. The old Europass format is now outdated. To pass ATS, add ISCO and Skills keywords from the German Job Description. Keywords carry very high weightage in Germany.
3. AUSTRALIA
ATS is mandatory. It is used by SkillSelect and all major employers. Never add a photo. It gets auto-rejected under the Fair Work Act bias filter. Keep your resume 2 to 3 pages long. Australia expects a detailed work history to map your ANZSCO code. To pass ATS, add exact ANZSCO keywords and write all your achievements with numbers.
4. DUBAI / UAE
ATS is used by 60-70% of MNCs, but it is less strict than Canada. Many SMEs still check resumes manually. For Dubai, you MUST add a photo. You also need to add your Nationality and Visa Status. Without these, your profile will be marked as incomplete. Keep your resume 2 pages long. This is the GCC standard and personal details are expected on page one. To get shortlisted, add keywords from the Job Description and mention any GCC market experience. Formatting is flexible here, but keywords are still mandatory. You need a 65% to 75% match.
5. USA / UK
ATS is mandatory. More than 90% of Fortune 500 companies use it. Never add a photo. It gets auto-rejected under US Title VII and UK Equality Act. For length, keep it 1 page if you have less than 8 years of experience and 2 pages if you have more than 8 years. To pass ATS, add exact keywords from the Job Description and use power verbs like Led, Drove, Delivered, and Achieved.
The 3 Technical Reasons Your ATS Score is 42-55%
Our audit of 127 resumes found 90% fail on the same 3 parameters:
1. FORMATTING FAIL: Score drops by 20-30%
ATS cannot read 2 Columns, Tables, Text Boxes, Icons, Pie Charts, Graphics, Canva Templates, Headers/Footers.
Fact: Jobscan confirms ATS parsing fails on tables and columns. Your data becomes unreadable.
Compliance Fix: Single-column, no tables, no graphics, standard font (Calibri/Arial), .docx format.
2. KEYWORD FAIL: Score drops by 25-35%
ATS scans for exact keywords from the Job Description. Generic bullets like “Responsible for sales” have zero keywords.
Fact: Resumes with JD-matched keywords get 40% higher ATS scores – TopResume.
Compliance Fix: Extract keywords from 3 target JDs and map them to your Skills + Summary + Experience. Replace “Career Objective” with 3-line Professional Summary. Replace “Responsible for” with “Led / Drove / Delivered / Achieved”.
3. IMPACT FAIL: Score drops by 15-20%
ATS and recruiters filter for metrics. Duties without numbers are ranked low.
Fact: Resumes with quantified achievements get 2.3x more shortlists – LinkedIn Talent Data.
Compliance Fix: Every bullet must follow: Action Verb + Number + Outcome. Example: “Led 5-member team to drive $120K revenue in 6 months” not “Handled sales team”.
If you have 2 of these 3 fails, your ATS score is below 55% and you will be marked “Not Qualified” automatically.
Resume vs Global Career Dossier: Why You Need a Dossier for PR
For Canada PR, Germany Opportunity Card & Australia PR, your document is scanned TWICE:
Scan 1: By the Recruiter’s ATS – Needs 75%+ keyword match to reach a human.
Scan 2: By the Visa Officer – To map your NOC / ISCO / ANZSCO codes and timeline. A 1 page fancy PDF fails this compliance check.
A typing shop gives you a pretty PDF. It fails both scans.
At Resume by Veritas by The Veritas House, we do 1 on 1 Advisory. We build an ATS compliant Global Career Dossier that clears both checks.
A Global Dossier includes:
ATS compliant 2-Page Format
NOC/ISCO/ANZSCO Keyword Mapping
Metric driven experience bullets
Country specific compliance (Photo/No Photo, Length, Personal Details)
